Louis T. (Ted) Coulson, Ph.D. and Alison Strickland, M.Ed. co-founded Applied Creativity, Inc. in 1982. The most experienced team in their field, each has taught, researched and consulted in the creativity/innovation arena for more than twenty five years.

   They have distilled their wealth of experience into their latest publication, Wow! How Did They Think of That? The Principles of Creativity which presents fundamental principles of creativity through stories, exercises and strategies that show people how to apply them in their work and their lives.

   They are also authors and producers of an audio-cassette program, Journeys into Creative Problem Solving and a game, Diversity, that helps individuals and groups understand and work with differing thinking style preferences.

   They have authored numerous published articles on creativity and innovation and are frequent contributors to the Innovation Network's Mind Play newsletter.

   Both serve on the faculty of the Creative Problem Solving Institute, Buffalo, NY and are colleagues of the Creative Education Foundation which recently presented then with the distinguished Service and Commitment award.

   They are founding members of the Innovation Network (IN), serve on the faculty of IN's Innovation University and have presented numerous programs at IN's annual Convergence. They've also presented at many national conferences, including American Society for Training and Development, Training Directors' Forum and numerous IBM recognition events.

   Ted holds a Ph.D. in human development, University of Maryland. His graduate studies focused on creativity and adult learning theory. His dissertation investigated creative problem solving with particular emphasis on idea development.

   Alison holds a M.Ed. in curriculum and instructional design, University of South Florida. For many years she's kept journals tracking her own creative growth and discoveries about creative principles and practices which led to her newest book, Harvesting Your Journals: Writing Tools to Enhance Your Growth and Creativity. She's also published several young people's novels.
